INTRODUCTION
English is taught as a second language in all Malaysian primary and secondary schools in line with itsstatus as a second language. Learners are taught the English language to enable them to use thelanguage in everyday life, to further their studies and for work purposes. With globalization, allMalaysians will need to be proficient in English as a medium for communicating with people from othercountries. The use of English in ICT has been included to enable learners to access knowledge on theInternet and to network with people both locally and overseas.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ENGLISH DAY PROGRAM
o To create an awareness of the importance of the English Language as an International Language of communication and international language of progress
o To enable all students to be proficient in the English Language to compete in the globalized world
o To create a conducive and realistic atmosphere in the use of the English Language in the school
o To make students aware of the importance of English as a means of access to knowledge, information, technology and enjoyment.
